Can you live off-grid in Montana?
Yes, it’s possible to use almost all the same household appliances we’re accustomed to in a grid-connected home. Hair dryers and air fryers pull more power than you’d think! Victron power systems can be as small or as extensive as you need or want. We understand what it takes to live off-grid. Our team lives and works off-grid, using the same equipment we sell and recommend.
What’s needed to design an off-grid solar power system?
The first step is a site assessment and customer consultation. Once we understand your wants and needs, we can design the best off-grid power system for your home.
How big of a solar system do I need to live off-grid?
Again, some of our customers generate and use very conservative amounts of power while others need to run lots of appliances. It really depends on many factors, and it’s our job to help you determine what size system is right for you.
We can work with you on a custom-designed system to fit your needs and your budget. It’s not uncommon for our customers to start with a smaller battery bank and a single solar panel and to expand storage over time. Due to the modular nature of Victron Energy components and Pylontech batteries, expanding an existing system is straightforward - even several years after the initial installation.
Why use Victron Energy for off-grid power systems?
We exclusively use Victron Energy inverters, solar charge controllers, and other power electronics due to their build quality, reliability, and efficiency. As a business built on referrals, our systems offer peace of mind and, with the use of communicating lithium batteries, are maintenance-free.
What’s the warrantee like?
Victron Energy products come with a 5-year warranty. Pylontech batteries come with a 10-year warranty. If you experience a problem with a component installed by Dirt Road Solar, we'll cover the cost of its replacement labor. If you ever have a question about your installation or system performance, we’re here to help. The equipment we install is locally sourced by a Victron distribution and service center here in Montana.
